Community Service Program
|
|
The Wight Foundation was created to make a difference
in the lives of young people, and to positively impact our communities. The Community
Service Program is a critical component of The Wight Foundation because it helps
our scholars remain connected with their communities. Through community service,
our scholars are empowered and enlightened by the opportunity to serve others. They
understand the value of service. As our scholars make a difference in the lives
of others, they ultimately make a difference in their own lives.

|
Scholars are expected to volunteer a minimum of twenty
hours annually at organizations in their local communities. Some scholars average
over 150 hours of service annually. Since scholars attend boarding schools, they
complete their community service obligations during holiday breaks, spring break
and during summer months. Our scholars volunteer at local schools, law offices,
businesses and community-based agencies.
