Wight Foundation Scholars
|
|
Students who complete STEP and are placed in boarding
schools are officially known as Wight Foundation Scholars. In addition to academic
excellence, scholars demonstrate character and a sense of community. They do not
simply attend classes; they demonstrate a thirst for learning. They are enrolled
in Advanced Placement and honor classes. They are proactive learners who contribute
to the school community inside and outside the classroom. They are student body
presidents, team captains, artists, musicians, tour guides, editors and community
service organizers.
|
|
Wight Foundation Scholars currently attend more than 40
boarding schools in our Boarding School Network. Our scholars receive a global education
by learning with students from around the world. They have also visited over 40
countries and six continents. They are also expected to positively support and impact
their home communities by contributing a minimum of twenty hours annually in their
local community agencies.
|
|
Once scholars successfully complete their four years in
boarding school, they are expected to attend college. Upon graduation from high
school, they are officially recognized as alumni and join the ranks of other alumni
in the Wight Foundation’s Alumni Association.
