We seek intellectually curious, academically competitive 7th-grade students who demonstrate strong character, community-mindedness, and a genuine interest in attending boarding school.
Candidates should have solid academic records, active engagement in extracurriculars, and qualities such as self-motivation, empathy, and a sense of community.
Our Recruitment Team visits schools, churches, and community organizations across the Greater Newark Area. While most students come from Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Middlesex, and Union counties, any student within an hour’s drive of Newark, New Jersey, is welcome to apply.

Students in the 6th grade or lower may complete an inquiry form but will not be eligible to receive an application until their 7th-grade year. Our application process is comprehensive, and each student who becomes a Wight Foundation Scholar receives dedicated support throughout and beyond their high school years.
To ensure the most thoughtful review, we encourage early submission. Applications are evaluated on a rolling basis as they arrive in our office.
