The Wight Foundation, Inc. was founded in 1986 by Mr. Russell B. Wight, Jr., a New Jersey businessman and real estate entrepreneur. In response to a Public Television documentary highlighting the social and economic challenges that many in Newark faced, Mr. Wight was inspired to provide superior educational opportunities for young students in the Greater Newark area.
